Need WiFi?
Lock 30 Woodlands may be worlds away from city congestion, but we realize campers need to be “connected” to their jobs and families . We’ve installed state of the art WiFi and the amount of bandwith necessary to accommodate most of our campers on most occasions. We provide it at no additional charge.
Still, because we are “in the woods” and further, cannot predict the level of usage, occasionally we hear from campers frustrated by slower speeds than what they’re used to at home.
We like to remind campers to follow a few guidelines when using this complimentary service.
1. We are in the forest! Early morning dew or rain on the leaves has the same effect on satellite internet reception as if we were to hang hundreds of little mirrors on our trees. Water interferes with reception, too. For optimal speed, consider checking your email or doing banking transactions later in the day.
2. We provide this free service so that campers—especially those staying longer than a weekend –can stay in touch with family, pay bills and check email. If you camp with your laptop so you can listen to music, play games or download large files, we need to introduce you to the great outdoors, our mile of river frontage and catch and release fishing lake. Camp time is play time.
3. We’re conveniently located near libraries, coffee shops and additional locations that offer high speed internet service. If you must work for extended periods of time on your laptop, ask for directions to these locations.
4. Our system was designed at triple the capability—and cost—of most; it covers the campground via a “repeater” installed at the clubhouse. Still, there are “hot spots”--locations not subject to the interference one might get if sitting within the walls of an RV. Feel free to ask where you can get the best reception.
5. Finally— and when all else fails--we’ll be glad to have you use our desk top computer to stay in touch. Inquire about gatehouse hours.
